Unemployment
The alleged recovery of the post-2002 Bush years was always anemic, for people who actually have to work for a living. The best months for job creation under Bush were in the range of the worst months under Clinton.* Even when coming out of the ‘01-‘02 recession, job creation under Bush was less than the average of Clinton’s entire term. Elections have consequences.
Jobs have been lost every month of 2008. After another half million job losses in December, national unemployment is now at a 16-year high. Even for a Republican, this is a monumental failure.

Percentages by State are along the right hand margin.
Is it a coincidence that 16 years ago was the end of Poppy Bush’s term?
